This data-driven analysis examines how personalized social media feeds create echo chambers that divide society. Using Reddit as a case study, I tracked and visualized news consumption patterns across three political subreddits during the week following the January 6th Capitol insurrection. Through ternary plots and word stem analysis, the research reveals stark differences in what stories different political groups see and engage with—demonstrating how algorithmic recommendation systems fragment our shared reality. The piece explores the mechanics of information warfare, from Russian disinformation campaigns to the psychology behind viral misinformation, and offers practical steps for combating these divisive forces.
